Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Arabs

"People were not put on this planet to live in fear of their fellow human beings. The watchwords of civilization have always been tolerance, understanding and mutual respect." (UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, December, 2010)

LGBT folks do exist in the Arabic speaking world. From Morocco to Egypt, from Palestine to Iraq. We are your friends, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, cousins..... We are your teachers, journalists, doctors, community leaders, ministers..... We breathe, feel, cry, laugh, pray..... We are just as human as you are.

We aim to be recognized, live with dignity and respect, raise awareness and change false misconceptions concerning people who happen to be gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender.

"If you don't speak up, if you turn a blind eye, its like allowing injustice to happen." (Ricky Martin, 2010)

It is time to speak up. Enough injustice.
